A technical meeting was held in Kabul regarding the issues of refugees and internally displaced persons. The meeting was led by the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation and UNAMA, with participation from relevant departments of the Islamic Emirate and international organizations.
During the meeting, Maulvi Abdul Kabir criticized Pakistan’s forced expulsion of Afghan refugees and stated that violence against refugees is unacceptable and a source of hatred between the two nations.
The Acting Minister of Refugees emphasized the importance of effective international assistance in addressing the challenges faced by refugees and displaced persons, and called for increased support for returnees.
At the same time, Indrika Ratwatte, the Deputy Special Representative of UNAMA in Afghanistan, assured continued support for the Afghan people.
He said the United Nations and other organizations have spent $183 million on humanitarian aid in Afghanistan.
He added that since the end of 2023, approximately 800,000 Afghans have returned to the country from Pakistan.
