The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has announced the start of practical work on the second phase of the road construction in Wakhan district of Badakhshan province.
According to the ministry, in this phase, the road project stretching from Broghil to Bozha-e-Gonbad has begun. The contract for the project had previously been signed with the Afghan Sadaqat Construction Company.
Based on available information, the road will be 71 kilometers long and about 7 meters wide, with a total cost of 143 million Afghanis.
In its statement, the ministry clarified: “Since this region had previously received no attention and its residents were deprived of many basic services, the Islamic Emirate decided to construct a road along this route. The first phase of this road, which extends to the zero point at the border with China, is currently under construction with the efforts of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.”
It is worth mentioning that with the completion of this road, transportation for local residents will improve significantly, and in the future, Wakhan could become a trade corridor between Afghanistan and China, bringing considerable economic value to the country.
According to the report, this road was designed by experienced Afghan engineers, and all technical aspects are being handled by them. The project has also created employment opportunities for many Afghan citizens during its implementation
