Tehran, June 22 – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has strongly condemned the recent U.S. military strikes on Iran, calling them a “clear and extensive violation” of the United Nations Charter.
In a statement issued on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Araghchi said that the United States, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, has violated international law, the UN Charter, and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) by launching attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
“Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, national interests, and people,” the minister stated.
This marks the first official response from a senior Iranian official following the U.S. airstrikes that targeted three nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
Araghchi described the early Sunday morning attack as “shocking and disgraceful,” warning that it will have “lasting consequences.”
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that American forces had targeted the aforementioned sites, warning that unless Iran chooses peace, additional targets will be struck.
