The Economic Deputy Office of the Prime Minister has announced that Afghanistan has achieved self-sufficiency in salt production.

According to the office, salt mines are located in 10 provinces, including Takhar, Samangan, Balkh, Faryab, Ghor, Herat, Parwan, Paktia, Ghazni, and Kandahar, and the quality of the salt from these mines is considered excellent.

The office stated that 344,000 tons of salt are produced annually from 12 verified mines, while the country’s annual need is 300,000 tons.

It is worth noting that the Economic Commission of the Islamic Emirate has banned the import of all types of salt into the country in order to further strengthen national self-sufficiency.
