Israel and Syria, with the support of Turkey, Jordan, and other neighboring countries, have agreed to a ceasefire in Syria’s Suwayda province.

U.S. Ambassador to Turkey, Tom Barak, called on all parties to lay down their arms and work toward unity.

Israel has permitted limited Syrian military entry into Suwayda in an attempt to help de-escalate the conflict. The Syrian government in Damascus also announced it is deploying special forces to restore security and stability.

This ceasefire follows Israeli airstrikes targeting Syria’s Ministry of Defense and several other locations after clashes between rival groups in southwestern Suwayda.

The Israeli attacks on Syria were strongly condemned by the international community and several Arab nations, who labeled them a blatant violation of Syria’s sovereignty.

Following these attacks, Ahmed al-Sharaa, head of Syria’s interim government, stated that while they are not afraid of war, they prioritize peace over destruction to ensure the safety of the Syrian people.
