China will hold a major military parade in Beijing next month to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, unveiling for the first time a new generation of weapons and military equipment.
According to Chinese state media, hundreds of fighter jets, bombers, and ground forces of the People’s Liberation Army will take part in the parade.
Chinese military officials said the display of power will include advanced tanks, carrier-based aircraft, fighter jets, and missile systems.
The parade will be held on September 3 in Tiananmen Square and will last about 70 minutes. President Xi Jinping, along with foreign leaders including Vladimir Putin, will attend the ceremony.
The United States and its allies are closely monitoring the event, particularly to assess China’s missile capabilities, including anti-ship systems and hypersonic weapons.
