The media office of the Panjshir provincial administration has announced that 2,133 carats of emerald were sold for $56,600 through an auction in the province.
Saifuddin Laton, the spokesperson for the Panjshir governor, stated that over 100 traders participated in the auction, where the emeralds were sold to local merchants.
Laton added, “Young Panjshiri traders actively took part in this auction, which people see as beneficial for the future economic prospects of the province.”
The people of Panjshir are enthusiastic about working in the emerald mines and have requested the provincial administration to begin operations on the 30-kilometer iron ore deposit that has been discovered in the province.
Regarding this, Panjshir Governor Mohammad Agha Hakim said: “The survey for the mine has been completed to create job opportunities for the youth of the province, and it is now in the bidding phase. Once operational, it will provide jobs for thousands of young people and pave the way for economic activities.”
It is reported that job opportunities have been made available for local youth in all the mines of the province.
