According to the latest ranking by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for One Day International (ODI) teams, the Afghanistan national cricket team has, for the first time, achieved the 7th position in the world rankings.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board announced that in the rankings released on May 3, Afghanistan earned 2,279 points from 25 matches, securing seventh place.

The national cricket teams of New Zealand, Australia, and Sri Lanka are ranked first to third, respectively.

Welcoming the new global position of the Blue Tigers, the Afghanistan Cricket Board stated that this achievement is the result of the national team’s consistent victories over the past few years, especially in international ODI matches in 2023 and 2024.
