The leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan say their foreign ministers will meet soon to discuss stabilizing the borders of the two bitter rivals and moving toward a peace treaty.
Elham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan said this after meeting German Chancellor Olaf Schultz at the Munich security meeting.
Azerbaijan’s APA news agency, quoting President Elham Aliyev, reported on Sunday, February 18 that the country’s Foreign Minister Jeihon Bayramov will soon meet with Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
Nothing has been said about the date of this meeting.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that the meeting of the foreign ministers of the two countries will focus on further discussion and agreement on the text of a peace treaty.
Armenia and Azerbaijan have fought several times over the ownership of the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh in the past three decades.
This region came under the control of Azerbaijan in September last year.
