Iran’s state media reports that extremists are leading in the elections in Tehran, the capital of that country.

Meanwhile, the counting of votes for the 12th term of the Islamic Council and the sixth term of the Assembly of Leadership Experts is going on.

It seems that due to voters’ apathy and requests from reformists to boycott yesterday’s elections, the level of people’s participation in it was historically low.

Iran’s state news agency, IRNA, has reported that so far, out of 5,000 ballot boxes, more than 1,900 votes have been counted, and as expected, it shows the lead of the extremists.

This is the first election since the beginning of nationwide protests following the death of Mahsa Amini in Iran.

Mehsa, who was 22 years old, was arrested in 2022 by the Irshad Police on charges of not observing the hijab law in Iran and died in September.
