Yemen’s Houthi-controlled Ministry of Interior stated that at the time of the U.S. attack, the detention center was housing 115 African migrants.
Al-Masirah TV, affiliated with the Yemeni Houthis, reported that at least 68 people were killed and 47 others injured in a U.S. airstrike on Saada, in northwestern Yemen.
On Monday, April 28, Al-Masirah reported that the U.S. operation targeted a detention center.
The Houthi Ministry of Interior confirmed that the center housed 115 African migrants during the attack.
Saada is considered a key stronghold of the Iran-backed Houthi movement and has previously been targeted by U.S. airstrikes.
On April 7, Al Arabiya reported that Abu Abdullah al-Hamran, a Houthi commander in Saada province, was killed.
On March 5, 2025, under Donald Trump’s administration, the Houthis were designated a “Foreign Terrorist Organization.”
In recent days, the U.S. military has intensified its campaign against the Houthis in Yemen.
