Afghanistan has achieved self-sufficiency in the production of 15 types of medicine. The Ministry of Public Health stated that, to strengthen and support domestic pharmaceuticals, it has signed agreements with both national and international organizations to promote the use of locally produced medicines in healthcare services.
According to the Food and Drug Authority of the Ministry of Public Health, there are currently 104 pharmaceutical factories operating in the country. These factories are producing 560 types of high-quality medicines.
Officials say that in the past, 95 percent of medicines were imported, but in recent times, imports have significantly decreased.
