Pakistan’s Foreign Minister says Iran has proposed engaging in political talks with the Houthis to seek an end to the group’s attacks.

Ishaq Dar said the proposal is expected to be discussed next week at an emergency meeting of members of the Mecca Defense Pact in Riyadh.

According to Dar, more than six countries have expressed interest in joining the pact, but he did not disclose their names.

Pakistan’s foreign minister added that no new membership requests will be considered until the pact becomes fully operational, a process that could take up to a year.
