Human Rights Watch says that 25 years after the start of the war in Afghanistan, Afghan victims of the conflict have still not received justice or adequate reparations.

The organization says U.S. forces killed civilians and tortured some individuals in Afghanistan, but insufficient steps have been taken to hold those responsible accountable.

According to Human Rights Watch, perpetrators of incidents such as the killing of 18 civilians in Wardak province in 2014 have still not been brought to trial.

Human Rights Watch has also criticized investigations into alleged war crimes by Australian and British forces in Afghanistan, saying that no Afghan victim has so far received reparations.
