U.S. War Secretary Pete Hegseth has warned Iran that if Tehran does not abandon its nuclear program, U.S. President Donald Trump will take further military action.

He also claimed that the United States has control of the Strait of Hormuz, saying the naval blockade has been effective and that shipping traffic through the waterway has returned close to pre-war levels.

The U.S. War Secretary added that U.S. military operations have inflicted serious damage on Iran’s defense industry and limited Tehran’s options.

Regarding Iran’s missile capabilities, Hegseth said Tehran would seek to rebuild them, but that U.S. strikes have made the process more difficult.

He stressed that Tehran should not underestimate Donald Trump’s willingness to take military action, saying Iran must choose between abandoning its nuclear program and taking “the hard way.”
