French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are expected to sign a bilateral security agreement at the Elysee Palace in Paris on Friday, February 16.

The French presidential office said on Thursday that the agreement will be signed following commitments made within the framework of the Group of Seven on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Vilnius in July 2023.

The G7 member states had promised to provide long-term security assistance to Ukraine.

Britain and Ukraine signed a bilateral security agreement in January, and Kiev is in talks with other countries to sign such an agreement.

Since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, France has been one of Kiev’s biggest supporters.
