The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that over 100 metric tons of medicine were delivered to Afghanistan this week via special chartered flights.

On Tuesday evening, May 27, UNICEF posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the shipment was sent to address urgent health needs in the country.

The organization also expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank in the procurement and transportation of these medicines.

According to UNICEF, the medicines will be distributed and used in more than 2,400 health facilities across Afghanistan that are supported by the organization.

Afghanistan’s healthcare system has long been reliant on international aid, with organizations like UNICEF playing a key role in providing medical supplies and resources.
