Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, has stated that no final decision has yet been made regarding Iran’s nuclear file or the mechanism for lifting sanctions, adding that these issues will be determined in the final agreement between the parties.
Speaking to Iranian media, Araghchi said that the issues of uranium enrichment and enriched uranium stockpiles will be addressed during the final stage of negotiations. He emphasized that Tehran’s position has consistently been that any dilution of enriched uranium must take place inside Iran.
The Iranian foreign minister also noted that the country’s Supreme National Security Council is closely overseeing the negotiation process and that any final decision will be announced collectively after reviewing various viewpoints within the council.
In another part of his remarks, Araghchi described the Strait of Hormuz as one of Iran’s most important deterrence tools, stating that the situation in the strategic waterway will no longer be the same as it was before the war. He added that the strait is jointly managed by Iran and Oman and that fees may be charged in the future for certain maritime transit-related services.
He further revealed that a mechanism for Iran’s access to its frozen assets has been included in the proposed memorandum of understanding, stressing that Tehran and Washington will only reach a final agreement if the interests of both sides are secured.
Referring to the contents of the memorandum, Araghchi said the document includes commitments related to avoiding war, refraining from threats, respecting national sovereignty, and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.
The Iranian foreign minister also stated that ending conflicts across all fronts, including in Lebanon, would be part of the agreement, adding that Tehran will continue its support for Lebanon.
