Afghanistan’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, has called on the international community to separate efforts to combat climate change from political considerations.

Speaking at an event marking the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, Baradar said that Afghanistan contributes little to global greenhouse gas emissions but has suffered significant losses from climate-related disasters, including floods, earthquakes, and droughts.

Baradar emphasized that Afghanistan should have fair access to international financial and technical assistance to reduce the impacts of climate change and address its challenges.
