Afghanistan’s National Disaster Management Authority, citing information from credible international institutions, has warned that the country will face various natural hazards over the next week.
According to the forecast, reduced rainfall and a shortage of snowpack will cause the abnormal dryness in Badakhshan to continue and drought conditions to spread in parts of the northern provinces.
At the same time, moderate to heavy rain and snowfall are expected in the central and eastern provinces, increasing the risk of flooding and heavy snow.
In addition, air temperatures across most parts of the country will be below normal, and a cold wave—especially in the early days of the week—could put children and the elderly at risk.
